The Signature: When the bright yellow flower buds or petals are crushed, they release a deep, reddish-purple juice or oil.
The Interpretation: This "bleeding" quality was interpreted as a signature for conditions involving blood, bleeding, and wounds. Furthermore, given the intense, sharp nature of nerve pain (often described as shooting or stabbing), this red "blood" was also seen as a sign for its affinity towards nerve injuries and the intense pain associated with them.
